John wears many hats at Total Technology and brings more than two decades of experience in the K–12 technology space. He understands how tight school budgets can be and finds purpose in helping districts recover as much value as possible from their retired technology. His approach is simple: do whatever it takes to make sure every customer has a great experience.

A lifelong California resident, John spends his free time doing just about anything with his son, Dylan. Outside of work, he enjoys coaching youth sports, fishing, golfing, and staying active. He’s also a published poet—proof that his skill set extends well beyond spreadsheets and device audits.

John is driven by helping districts stretch their budgets further and by creating experiences that make complex projects feel easy.

Fun Facts About John Schlegel:

He was raised a household with succession of legendary cats—Sneakers, Lucy, and the majestically named Raindrop Superstar Spot (a.k.a. Big Kitty)—though he is currently catless out of respect for his son’s allergies.

In a valiant but ultimately doomed attempt to outsmart the yips, he once turned to beta blockers to keep his heart rate down—only to discover that his pulse was calm, but his golf game was still mediocre.

He’s a connoisseur of the $1-3 no-limit hold ’em table, where he’ll fight tooth and nail for a pile of dollar chips with the same stone-cold intensity as a World Series pro.
